| Improving solar energy yield by vertical tracking |
| This is a trial to determine the effectiveness of tracking the sun elevation by adjusting
vertical panel position. Setup of tracking generator: Three satellite dish positioners move the solar panels to follow sun elevation in the range between approx. 42° and 62° just limited by mechanic constraints. An embedded Linux computer calculates solar elevation and controls movement of panels. Real tracking will occur in the months April until September when sun elevation exceeds 42° over horizon. Compare energy results of the 1.2 kWp tracking system versus the 1.2 kWp system fixed at 45°. Remark: More meaningful results are available after installing the more accurate electronic totalizers. |
